Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro Earbuds Review

Welcome to yet another review of brand new truly wireless earbuds. It is the latest Samsung Galaxy
Buds Pro. After a couple low budget truly wireless earbuds, Samsung has finally entered the big league
with their first truly wireless earbuds with fully functioning Active Noise Cancelation. The price and the
features would challenge the Apple Airpods pro which came out some time back. Their previous model,
the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, came out a few months back. It had a unique design and it also came
with partial Active Noise Cancelation. However, the brand-new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro has better
quality, and it is priced a lot higher as well.

Highly quality audio for Samsung Galaxy devices, but not so for other devices

Pros

Intelligent Active Noise Cancelation

The three built-in microphones do a good job in keeping out noise. It is much better than the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. It is right up there amongst the best Noise Canceling truly wireless earbuds that are already there in the market. after using these in different conditions, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro was able to drastically reduce the sounds of industrial fans, moving vehicles trains, etc. however, sharp noises such as radio did not get filtered when it is played in the background. But the background noise must be very loud for it to creep through.

They are good enough that you will not be able to hear any conversations in another room, but anything louder than someone speaking will creep through the ANC. Another big advantage of active noise cancellation is audio amplification – also known as audio passthrough – that can be activated by pressing and holding the touch capacitive button. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro can feed the outside noises into your ears, by amplifying sound by 20db. This mode is ideal to use in the train station so that you can conveniently listen to music while waiting for your train to be called over the loudspeaker.

galaxy buds bro review of latest wireless earbuds comes with samsung galaxy s21

IPX7 water resistance rating

The two major features of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are its active noise cancellation and IPX7 waterproofing, this is by far the highest rating achieved by Samsung so far when it comes to truly wireless earbuds. The previous Samsung Galaxy Buds models have only been IPX2 or IPX4 water-resistant. That meant that they were only good enough to withstand few drops of rain or a bit of sweat, so you did not have the luxury to wear these in the rain or during a high-intensity workout session.

With the water-resistance of IPX7, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro would survive for 30 minutes while been submerged in water up to 1 meter. You have nothing to worry about having a jog in a slight drizzle or cleaning them off from water. This was a much-needed upgrade for Samsung, for them to compete with the big guns.

SmartThings Find

This is another unique feature that helps the user to find the location of the bud. The SmartThings find to show you a map of where your devices are, even when they are offline and disconnected from Bluetooth. Even though many truly wireless earbuds have tracking features, but to track those buds, it must be connected to the device through Bluetooth. If your Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro were to be stolen, you could still track down the buds where they are.

Auto Switch Feature

This is another unique feature you get with the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. How these feature works are if you are listening to music via your Galaxy Tab and you suddenly receive a call via your Samsung Galaxy phone, the Auto Switch feature will automatically switch to the phone for the phone call, and then re-connect back to the tablet after the call is done. It makes life convenient for the user.

Quick charge + Wireless Charging

samsung galaxy buds pro review and rating

Quick charge feature has become a quite common feature amongst all major brands in the truly wireless earbuds. In the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, five minutes in the charging case would give 1 hour of playback time for the buds. All other previous Samsung Galaxy Buds models came with a wireless charging option. The new Galaxy Buds Pro also has the feature, and it is convenient for users who own power-sharing enabled smartphones.

Bluetooth 5.0

Most of the truly wireless earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.0. which is the benchmark amongst all top brands. Bluetooth 5.0 allows these buds to have a connectivity range of more than 40 ft which is more than enough for the user.

Ambient Sound

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes with Ambient Sound control. It allows you to wear the buds while having a conversation with another person. You can hear voices with good clarity and in real-time. The intelligent algorithm increases the volume of the environment through four levels, making sure you do not miss out on any discussion.

Voice Detect

This feature is used to instantly switch from ANC to Ambient sound when it hears your voice. For example, if you are in a restaurant using ANC to block outside noise, if you wish to give an order, the Galaxy Buds Pro will automatically turn off Active Noise Cancelation when you speak. These intelligent Active Noise Canceling buds turn down to allow undisturbed conversation, even if you are using Ambient Mode or have ANC turned off. It lowers the volume of your music and while focusing the microphone on the person speaking to you.

Noise-free calls

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro has three microphones. These buds drown out the noise which allows the user to enjoy undisturbed high-quality calls anywhere in the world. Apart from the three mics, there is a voice pickup unit to increase the quality. The design has a low protrusion, and the wish shield helps the buds to keep away outside noise.

Dolby Head Tracking + Dolby Atmos

The user will have a more realistic experience with the help of Dolby Head tracking technology. It follows your head movement and opens up a whole new dimension for the user. The Dolby Atmos technology increases the quality of the audio output which adds more value for the buds.

Buds Together

This is a unique feature of the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. This allows you to connect two Galaxy Buds Pro buds to the same device at the same time. This is ideal for the user to share music or even watch a movie with another friend.

Cons

No hand free support for Google Assistant or Siri

The Samsung Galaxy Pro truly wireless buds has some exciting features. One drawback is that few of these features does not support other Android devices or Apple devices. This feature is one of them. You have the luxury of using Bixby without any touch on the buds or the phone, but it must be a Samsung Galaxy device. This could be a concern for consumers who do not use Samsung Galaxy Devices.

Unavailability of the Samsung Wearables app for other devices

To enjoy the full range of features in the Samsung Galaxy Pro, you need to have access to the updated Samsung Wearables mobile application. Unfortunately, the updated Samsung Wearable app is not available for other Samsung devices and Apple devices.

Uncomfortable fit

The fit is one of the most important factors when it comes to truly wireless earbuds. Well, despite their modern design, the earbuds point out of your ear which makes them look big and uncomfortable. Wearing these earbuds to bed or for a longer time would be uncomfortable and painful at worst. The design is such they lack a way to stay locked into your ear, they keep shifting from time to time, which means you’ll have to readjust them or else the seal will weaken, and noise cancellation will slowly go away.

Highly quality audio for Samsung Galaxy devices, but not so for other devices

The same issue we mentioned earlier. These buds provide excellent audio quality for the Samsung Galaxy devices. When it comes to other devices, the quality goes down a bit. If it is not a Samsung Galaxy Device, the sound will be transmitted over SBC or AAC. There is a notable difference when you listen to audio on a Samsung Galaxy device and any other device.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro - Design and Durability

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes in three color variants. Phantom Violet, Phantom Black, and Phantom Silver are the three colors. Those three colors match perfectly with the new Samsung Galaxy S21. The bugs have a glossy rich finish, just like the previous model, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. The funnel design is quite long, and it makes the buds jut out your ears. This could be awkward to use especially on the bed.

The dimension of the buds is bigger than its predecessor, the Galaxy Buds Live. each bud weighs about 6.3g which is noticeably light compared to most other truly wireless earbuds. Each bud is equipped with touch-capacitive controls and two more microphones with a wind guard that reduces ambient noise when you are in a noisy environment. Each bud comes with an 11mm woofer and 6.5mm tweeter to give you a great audio experience.

The durability is high on these new Galaxy Buds Pro. It has a water resistance rating of IPX7, which is the highest amongst all the Galaxy Buds series. The previous model had lower ratings. These new Galaxy Buds Pro would survive for 30 minutes while been submerged in water up to 1 meter. These can be worn during a high-intensity workout or even a jog during a drizzle. This was a much-needed upgrade for Samsung, for them to compete with other major brands.

Control and Digital Assistant

The Galaxy Buds Pro comes with touch-capacitive controls. It is easy to learn the basic controls which are not fully customizable. The default controls are as follows.

Touch Buttons Functions

One Tap

play/pause your music

Double Tap

skip to the next song or answers/ends a call

Triple Tap

To go back to the previous track

Tap and Hold

skip to the previous track

That last command can be customized, but for this, you need the updated Samsung Wearable app to do so. This means this feature is only available for consumers who use Samsung Galaxy Devices.

When it comes to digital assistance, the Galaxy Buds Pro has hands-free access to digital assistance only for Bixby. This is again another let down for consumer who does not have a Samsung Galaxy device.

App and Special Features

The Samsung Wearables app is used with the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. It comes with some exciting features. The app provides customization up to a certain extent. You can customize the “touch and hold” control from the default setting.

There are few exciting new features for the user. The SmartThings find is one of the unique features. It shows you a map of where your devices are, even when they are offline and disconnected from Bluetooth. Most truly wireless earbuds which come with a designated app has a tracking feature, but to track those buds, it must be connected to the device through Bluetooth. If your Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro were to be stolen, and the buds are disconnected from your device or even switched off, you could still track down the buds where they are.

Auto Switch feature is another unique feature you get with the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. How these feature works are if you are listening to music on one Samsung Galaxy device and you suddenly receive a call on your other Samsung Galaxy device, the Auto Switch feature will automatically switch to the device for the phone call, and then re-connect back to the previous device you were using to listen to music after the call is done. This makes it convenient for the user. But, you have to use Samsung devices to enjoy this feature.

Another unique feature of the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is the “Buds Together”. This allows you to connect two Galaxy Buds Pro buds to the same device at the same time. This is ideal for the user to share music or even watch a movie with another friend.

Audio Quality

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is a certain upgrade from all its predecessors. The audio is engineered by AKG which is a subsidiary of Harman. These new Galaxy Buds Pro have a balanced audio quality that doesn’t boast too much in the trebles or too much in the bass. It provides the almost perfect balance, but they are a bit lacking some clarity in the mids and highs. The soundstage is not that prominent too.

This means that you will be able to hear both the bass lines in a classic rock song as well as the hi-hats, but the sounds will only have two-dimensional directionality. The result is pretty much like an ordinary walkman, it does not quite make you go “wow” as some higher-end earbuds would. Fortunately, the Samsung Wearable app does allow you to go in and adjust the sound however you like but it does improve the soundstage into a wider experience. However, that could change when Samsung introduces 360 Audio support later this year, which will bring a theater-like experience to the buds.

Each bud comes with an 11mm woofer and 6.5mm tweeter which provide a good enough audio experience for the user. The buds are equipped with BCM 43015 chipset and RTOS operating system.

Noise Cancelation

The Samsung Galaxy Bud Pro comes with intelligent active noise cancelation. It is by far the most advanced noise-canceling technology introduced by Samsung for its Galaxy bud’s series. This new Galaxy Buds Pro comes with three built-in microphones which help the Galaxy Buds Pro do a much better job of drowning out the noise than its predecessors.

During testing in our home for a few days, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro was able to do a great job in minimizing the common sounds which occur inside a house. However, it failed to keep away high-pitched noises such as loud laughs or even musical instruments. Considering all these factors is it fair to say that the intelligent active noise canceling technology in these Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is good, but it is not as good as the higher-grade noise-canceling buds in the market.

On the other hand of ANC, you get Ambient Mode. This can be accessed by pressing and holding the touch-capacitive panel (if you are in default setting) The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro would take outside audio and feed it into your ears. The sound will be amplified by as much as 20db, which makes life easier for the users.

Battery and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes with decent battery life. Samsung guarantees five hours of uninterrupted playback on one cycle. If you switch off active noise cancelation you will get eight hours of playback time. This is a downgrade from the Samsung Galaxy Buds plus, which offered 11 hours of playback. However, given the new features and all sensors in the new buds, it is still good enough. The Galaxy Buds Pro supports fast charging and five minutes on the charging case would give you one hour of playback. Fast charging is enabled via the USB-C port, but wireless charging is also available, although it’s a bit slower.

Galaxy Buds Pro Charging Case

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro comes with a newly designed charging case. It is compact, which is perfect when you want to put it into your pocket. Like the previous models, this too has a status LED on both the inside and outside of the case that turns green, yellow, and red depending on how much battery is left in the case. The charging case can provide an additional 13 hours if you have active noise cancelation turned on. If you turn off active noise cancelation and you can get up to 20 hours of battery life from the case.

Call Quality and Connectivity

These buds do a much better job when you compare them with the previous Samsung Galaxy buds. When we tested with other colleagues, they said we sounded alright while using the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. However, it is not as same as talking through the phone microphone. Then again none of the other major truly wireless earbuds have reached much higher quality. The three microphones make it much clearer and easier to communicate compared to most other truly wireless earbuds in the market.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds pro uses Bluetooth 5.0 technology for connectivity. The range goes up to 40ft and it stays connects inside a 1000 sq. Ft. apartment. There is no visible lag when it comes to video streaming. We ran tests on both YouTube and Netflix. The high-definition videos work just fine with these buds.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

These buds do a much better job when you compare them with the previous Samsung Galaxy buds. When we tested with other colleagues, they said we sounded alright while using the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. However, it is not as same as talking through the phone microphone. Then again none of the other major truly wireless earbuds have reached much higher quality. The three microphones make it much clearer and easier to communicate compared to most other truly wireless earbuds in the market.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Live

The Galaxy Buds Live comparison with the new Galaxy Buds Pro is an easier one. The Galaxy Buds Live’s only win point is its comfortability when it comes to the design. The batter life is a touch higher with an additional hour on the Galaxy Buds Live. In all other aspects, the Galaxy Buds Pro is above its predecessor.

Final Say

It is fair to say Samsung has finally entered the big league. Before this, all their truly wireless earbuds have been budget products targeting the average users. But the new Galaxy Buda Pro certainly poses a challenge to other major brands. However, there are still certain things Samsung must work on. Things like compatibility when it comes to other Android Devices. All in all, it is fair to these buds provide enough and more value to money.

Pros

Open Type Active Noise Cancelation (ANC)

What is Open type Active Noise Cancelation? In laymen’s terms, it drowns the low-end noises happening in the background while letting in the high-end sounds.

For example, when you’re walking on the road with the Galaxy Buds Live in your ear, you would not hear the vehicles or the footsteps of others, but you will listen to the horns or people talking in a higher pitch. This is something unique that comes with the Galaxy buds Live.

The Active Noise Cancelation you get in the Apple Airpod Pro is different from what you get with these all-new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. The Airpod Pro drowns out all external noises once the ANC is activated, while the Galaxy buds Live lets in high pitched noise such as the voice of people or announcements. This could come in handy if you’re using these in an office or a train station.

Samsung Wireless Earbuds - Samsung Wireless Headset 2020

Ergonomic design for extra comfort

The new Galaxy Buds Live is ideal for everyday use. The design stays flush in your ear, and the fact that there is no rubber ear tip makes it even more comfortable to wear throughout the day. The jellybean like design looks stylish and unique, which adds more value to the product. For users who do not like the buds pressed in your ear, these Galaxy Buds Live would be a game-changer.

Only 169$

Value for money is an essential factor for any consumer. Samsung has achieved it with these Galaxy Buds Live. It is by far the cheapest truly wireless earbuds that come with Active Noise Cancelation (open type, but still). 8-hour battery with an additional 21 hours from the charging case, what more could you ask for? 12mm speakers tuned by AKG powers these earbuds. 3 Mics for crisp call quality and well-balanced sound output. It got everything you need.

Wireless Charging and Quick Charging

Just like in the Galaxy Buds Plus, the Galaxy Buds Live supports wireless charging and quick charge. You could charge these using your power charging phone on the go anytime, anywhere. If you are in a hurry, there is no need to worry because a quick 5-minute charge gives 1 hour of uninterrupted playback.

Bluetooth 5.0

The Galaxy Buds Live uses Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. Usually, it guarantees uninterrupted coverage until 30ft, but we have tested until 50ft, and it works just fine. There is no lagging when streaming videos on Youtube or Netflix, which you expect when you buy truly wireless earbuds. The reconnection only takes a couple of seconds, and you can either earbuds independently, while the other earbud is charging inside the case.

Inbuilt mobile app for both Android and IOS

The Samsung wearables mobile application helps the user customize the audio output and the controls as they wish. There are options to switch off/on ANC, turn on Game Mode, find my buds, and tutorials on how to use these earbuds.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Live 2020 - Latest wireless earbuds release of samsung

Cons

Not recommended for an active lifestyle

The Galaxy Buds Live comes with a whole different design to what we have seen in the market. It does not have a rubber ear tip to push into the ear; neither does it have an ear hook or loop. This is pretty much similar to what you get with the Apple Airpods. Unfortunately, for some users, this might not work. The fit would not be able to withstand sudden moves or repetitive moves during workout sessions or an evening jog.

There are two sizes of ear tips that come with the Galaxy Buds Live. Use the smaller one to get a tighter fit than the bigger size. It is tough to say it would stay put while you clench your teeth and jog in the treadmill.

However, the fit is comfortable, and the fact that these are super lightweight, the user wouldn’t feel like there is an earbud on their ear. Samsung has achieved that comfortability, but they had to compromise on the stability of the fit.

samsung galaxy buds live 2020 - truly wireless earbuds for Samsung Galaxy S20

Low water-resistant rating of IPX2

This is similar to what you get with the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, which is disappointing once again. They could have done better in this department. An IPX2 rating means it can withstand water splashes from a 15-degree angle or less. This adds to the fact these are not suitable for an Active Lifestyle. Unlike the Apple Airpod Pro, which comes with a higher water-resistant rating and much tighter and secure fit, these Galaxy Buds Live are more of an everyday use truly wireless earbuds.

That was a brief introduction as to what you can expect from the all-new Galaxy Buds Live. Now let us move into an in-depth analysis of the features in the new model. These thoughts and opinions are subjective, but we have done testing on the product to give you an insight as to what this product offer for the user.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live - Samsung release their latest truly wireless earbuds with lots of features.check out the reviews, ratings, pricing from bestwirelessearbuds.org

Galaxy Buds Live - Design and Durability

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live comes with a unique design. Its predecessor, the Galaxy Buds Plus, had a standard design with rubber ear tips, but the new Galaxy buds live does not have the ear tips to get stuck inside the ear. It uses an ergonomic design to stay flush on your without exerting much pressure inside your ear. The lightweight buds fit comfortably inside your ear so well; you wouldn’t feel like you are wearing earbuds.

Even though the comfortability factor is high in these Galaxy Buds Live, the design does not help the earbuds to stay put inside the ear during rapid movement. This means you might end up dropping these earbuds while working out in the gym or having jog on the road. The lack of fit is a significant downfall when compared with other truly wireless earbuds in a similar price range. The Galaxy Buds plus have a better fit, and even the Apple Airpod Gen 1 stays in the ear better than these Galaxy Buds Plus.

However, the design looks sleek and attractive, and it comes in three different colors. Those are Mystic Bronze, Mystic White, and Mystic Black, which goes hand in hand with the new Galaxy S20 series. It stays flushed inside, and the glossy finish makes it stylish. These would be ideal for wearing during office hours or while you take the train after work.

Samsung Buds Live - Control and Digital Assistant

The controls are necessary, and these come with capacitive touch buttons on either earbud, just like in the Galaxy Buds Plus.

Touch Buttons Functions

One Tap

Play/Pause Audio or Answer calls

Double Tap

To skip forward to the next track or Decline Calls

Triple Tap

To go back to the previous track

Tap and Hold

Customizable through the app

Touch and hold to activate or deactivate Active Noise Cancelations, Increase and Decrease volume or call upon the digital assistant. You can customize these options using the Samsung Wearables App.

The Galaxy Buds Live works seamlessly with Bixby. You could activate the “Bixby Call up” option using the app. It enables you to call upon Bixby, but just “Hey Bixby.” This makes life much easier for Samsung users.

Other digital assistants such as Google Assistant or Siri works as well. You wouldn’t get the same fluency or the response compared to what you get when you use the digital assistant on a Samsung Device. Overall, this is compatible with both IOS and Android devices without much hassle.

App and Special Features

Samsung developed a designated mobile application for all its wearables, including the Galaxy Buds series, which is available on Android and IOS platforms. The apps give you all the necessary information regarding the earbuds. The remaining battery life of each earbud and the remaining battery life in the charging case will appear on the app’s home page.

You can modulate the audio output using the inbuilt equalizer, which has few presets to choose from. Apart from the equalizer, there are few other options you get from the app.You can manually customize the “touch and hold” control according to your liking; you could switch on/off active noise cancelation.

In case of a missing bud, there is an option called “find my buds.” It triggers a noise from the buds so that you can locate them. To prevent lagging while playing games or streaming videos online, you can switch “game mode,” which assures no latency in the audio.

You get the basic options such as “reading the notifications out loud,” and Bixby Call up. All these functions you get from the mobile applications, make these Galaxy Buds live convenient and user friendly.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live for Samsung Galaxy S20

Audio Quality

AKG powers the Samsung Galaxy Buds series. You get the same with these new Galaxy Buds Live, which comes with 12mm speakers. The audio output is similar to what you get in Galaxy Buds plus, but due to the lack of tight fit, the Galaxy Buds plus provides a much deeper base and better noise isolation. However, when you compare with earbuds that do not have rubbers tips, such as the Apple Airpod Gen 1, these Galaxy Buds Live provides a similar experience, if not better.

The High’s and Mid’s are well balanced with good punchy bass to give a great audio experience for the user. With Active Noise Cancelation, it drowns out low-end noises around you to provide you with a more isolated experience. However, it is hard to compare the Galaxy Buds Live with other Earbuds that come with rubber ear tips. It is fair to say the audio quality is right up there, which gives excellent value for money.

Noise Cancelation

The Galaxy Buds Live does active noise cancelation. But, it’s a litter different from what you get in all other earbuds in the market. The ANC in the Galaxy Buds Live only drowns out the low-end noises around you and lets in the high sounds. It means you would not hear the vehicles or any other machinery, but you will listen to the voices of people around you.

This works both ways. It is ideal in an office environment, where you would prefer to hear if someone is calling your name while plugged into your earbuds while drowning out other noises around you. Samsung has done a great job in using this technology, and it works just fine. Generally, ANC earbuds or headphones are expensive, but these Galaxy Buds Live will only cost you 169$, compared to Apple Airpod Pro’s 249$ price tag. The ANC you get with the Apple Airpod Pro is different and advanced to what you get with these Galaxy Buds Live.

Since there is no tight fit, there could be fewer noise isolations compared to other earbuds. But, it does not hinder the experience you get through the quality of audio.

Battery and Performance

When Samsung launched its Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus, it stormed into the market with its 11-hour battery life. However, with the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, they have only provided 8 hours of battery life. In comparison with other earbuds in the similar price range, this is on par. The Earbuds lasted little over 5 hours, with ANC enabled.

Overall, battery performance is excellent, and it adds more value to the product.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live Case

The all-new Galaxy Buds Live comes in a newly designed charging case. It has a glossy finish to go along with the earbuds. The charging case supports wireless charging, and it comes with a USB Type-C charging port. You could use your power-sharing enabled smartphone to charge your earbuds while on the go.

The charging case also supports a quick charge. A five-minute quick charge will give one hour of uninterrupted playback. The charging case provides 21 hours of additional playback time, which is more than enough to get through the day.

You could charge one earbud at a time while using the other. The charging is lightweight and made out of recyclable material, which is commendable and environmentally friendly. The case has LED indications both inside and outside to indicating battery charging. However, the magnet used to hold the earbuds in the case is not very strong, so it is better to be careful not to drop the earbuds while charging.

Call Quality and Connectivity

The galaxy Buds Live comes with three mics. It provides crisp call quality, pretty similar to what you get with Galaxy Buds Plus and Airpod Gen 1. The Galaxy Buds Live uses Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. It works swiftly, especially with Samsung Galaxy devices. Generally, Bluetooth 5.0 guarantees a range up to 30ft, but we tested the range up to 50ft, and it works smoothly.

Video streaming on Netflix and Youtube is smooth, and there is no latency.

Galaxy Buds Live v Galaxy Buds Plus

What’s the difference between galaxy buds and galaxy buds?

When you compare these two products, it is tough to say which is better. Few factors are worth mentioning. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus provide deeper bass, due to the rubber tips which stay flush in your ear. When both earbuds used in the same volume, it offers similar loudness.

However, the audio quality is similar to each other. If you are not a fan of having the earbuds stuck inside your ear, the Galaxy Buds Live would be your best option. If you don’t mind having the rubber ear tips, you might as well go for the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus and save 30$.

Galaxy Buds Live v Apple Airpod Pro

Both these earbuds mentioned above come with active noise cancelation. But it is not the same. The Airpod Pro comes with the rubber ear tips, which provides a tighter fit. The Galaxy Buds Live does not have the same fit and its open type. If you wish to experience proper active noise cancelation, there is no doubt that you should go for the Apple Airpod Pro. But, if there are budget concerns and you wish to go for cheaper ANC earbud, Samsung Galaxy Live is your option.

Final Say

The Galaxy buds Live certainly something different from what you get in the market. The design of its features sets a new trend, and it will attract a lot of people. However, there are shortcomings, and the biggest of them all is the fit. It could work for some; it could not work for the rest. Other than that, for 169$, you are getting a decent product. This is what we think if you happen to use these new Galaxy Buds Live, do let us know what you think.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus Review - Pros

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus Battery Life

There are few Pro’s that we intend to highlight, but one thing that makes these Samsung Galaxy Earbuds Plus stand out from the rest of the pack is battery life. Eleven hours of uninterrupted playback, yes, you read it right, 11 HOURS! Eleven Hours are by far the best in the market when it comes to battery management. It goes beyond Apple AirPod Pros, Google Pixel Buds, Sennheiser Momentum 2 or the Jabra Elite Active 75t. The battery duration in these earbuds makes it worth the price, and it sets the bar so high that other competitors in the market have a lot of catching up to do. The Galaxy buds also support wireless charging which makes life easy for the user.

These earbuds are the lightest earbuds you could find in the market, making them more user-friendly. The design prevents the buds from bouncing out while working out, so for users who have an active lifestyle would not have to worry about dropping these while you are jogging or working out in the gym.

Touch Control Sensitivity

These truly wireless earbuds come with touch-sensitive controllers. The sensitivity is commendable, and it allows the frequently used actions without having to go to your phone or any other device.

Seamless Pairing

At the launch of these new Galaxy Earbuds Plus, Samsung emphasized two things. One was the battery, and the other was seamless pairing. They have done justice in that aspect. These earbuds support superfast paring withing 1-3 seconds, which is excellent. Also, This pairing done using Bluetooth 5.0, the latest technology in the market. Also, there are zero syncing delays when it comes to watching videos on Youtube or Netflix. The Vloggers would enjoy these buds. When pairing with a new device, you would not need to go through the hassle of unpairing the first device to pair a new one. You could easily select the Galaxy Earbuds Plus from the Bluetooth devices list and connect seamlessly.

samsung galaxy buds plus wireless earbuds app

Use Single Earbud

Sometimes you may want to use one earbud, and fortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Earbuds Plus gives you the option of using either earbud independently as you wish. You wouldn’t get this luxury if you choose to buy the Jabra Elite Active 75t. There are few cool new features, which can be activated and controlled from the app as well. The app gives the option of letting you know when you get a notification on the phone. Also, by any chance, if you are struggling to locate the buds, you could use the Find by Earbuds function on the app, which can trigger a chirping sound from the buds.

Locate Earbuds Easily

There are few cool new features, which can be activated and controlled from the app as well. The app gives the option of letting you know when you get a notification on the phone. Also, by any chance, if you are struggling to locate the buds, you could use the Find by Earbuds function on the app, which can trigger a chirping sound from the buds.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus - Cons

IPX2 Rating

Looking at the Con’s in these new Galaxy Earbuds plus, there is one big disappointment. It only has an IP rating of 2, which means it can only resist up to droplets falling at an angle of 15 degrees. This rating could be a huge let off, especially for fitness fanatics who have an active lifestyle. Jogging in the rain could prove to you costly if water droplets creep and the buds get affected. This rating is a massive let-off compared to other truly wireless earbuds in the same price range such as the Google Pixel Buds 2 or the Jabra Elite Active 75t which supports at least an IP 4 rating or higher. Surprisingly, Samsung opted to go for a lower rating given the competition out there.

Noice Cancelation

The Samsung Galaxy Buds+ does not have active noise cancellation, but it does have very good passive noise cancellation, which helps you enjoy isolation from exterior disturbances.

Galaxy Buds Plus - Design and Durability

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus design is like its older version, the Galaxy Buds. The truly wireless earbuds come with three sizes of Wing Tips, Ear hooks, and Ear tips to suit your need. The fact that these earbuds do not stick out of the ear makes it convenient to use. The gloss finish in the new Samsung Galaxy Wireless Earbuds gives it a rich look and makes you a little more stylish and trendier. The flush design is ideal for users who are used to having an active lifestyle. These buds fit perfectly to your ear so that you do not need to worry about the buds falling off place while you jog and clench your teeth while working out in the gym. You have four color options to choose from, which are white, black, light blue, and red.

Control and Digital Assistant

The touch button on earbuds works seamlessly. The primary functions are as below,

Touch Buttons Functions

One Tap

Play or Pause

Double Tap

Answer Call or End Call/Next Track

Triple Tap

Play Previous Track

Tap and Hold

Customizable or Decline Call

These are the actions that come with these earbuds. However, the customizable option would help you have the Digital Assistant or Volume control, etc. if you chose Volume Control, both earbuds sync for that action only. Customizability is quite good but it’s not the same level you get with the Sennheiser Momentum 2 app. The Galaxy Earbuds Plus works with Google Assistant and Siri. These sync seamlessly with any Samsung Android device, but they could show a bit of lag in syncing when it comes to IOS devices.

Also, there is an experimental action which you can activate from the app. It is the double-tap on the edge of the earbud. Double-tap on left earbud, you can turn the volume down, while double-tap on the right earbud, you can turn the volume up. This option does not work all the time; hence it is not recommended.

App and Special Features

The app has upgraded from its previous version, which came with the galaxy earbuds. It has an in-built equalizer where you find the presets and set them up as you wish. Although it does not give many options, this could help you raise the bass levels in the audio. You can control your ambient sound from the app as well—the three settings from low, mid, and high. The app has the option of Find my Earbuds. If you happen to misplace your buds, you can go to find my earbuds on the app and make a chirping sound on the earbud so that you can locate it. The android users can enjoy another special feature of these Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus That is Spotify integration. You can directly access the Spotify from the earbuds. To use this feature, you have to download the Galaxy Wearables app. Spotify functionality is only available to Android devices.

Audio Quality

The Samsung Galaxy earbuds plus have an improved audio output to its predecessor. It comes with the affiliation of AKG, which is a renowned headphone manufacturing company for many years. This affiliation is a bonus to these earbuds. These earbuds give prominence to the vocals, which is ideal for users who listen to podcasts and audiobooks. However, the bass is on the lower side. Some users may feel the punch is not enough, but you could increase the bass using the app on the phone. The in-built equalizer allows subtle variations to the audio, according to your liking. The soundstage effect is quite disappointing. The sound does not resonate, and it makes you feel like you are inside the small room.

Noise Cancelation

These earbuds come with passive noise cancelation. Although it’s not as good as active noise Cancelation, the Samsung Galaxy earbuds plus does an excellent job of drowning the exterior noises. The users can enjoy undisturbed music anywhere. Yet, it is no where close to what you get with active noise cancellation which is used in Apple AirPod Pro’s or the Sennheiser Momentum 2.

You can control your ambient sound input from the app. There are three settings of low, mid, and high. The three microphones used in the earbuds give a very high intensity when you choose the high setting in the app.

Battery and Performance

samsung galaxy buds plus - bluetooth wireless earbuds battery life

By far, the best feature in the earbuds is battery performance. A whopping 11 hours of nonstop music playback makes these earbuds the best in the market. The battery capacity is a huge leap forward from its predecessor, which had far less usage capacity. It is also better than the Jabra Elite Active 75t or the Google Pixel Buds 2. Samsung has increased the capacity without changing any of its original designs which is quite an achievement. The battery management is impressive that it sets the bar so high for its competitors.

The call time, however, is seven and a half hours, which is still high compared to other models in the market, which are in the same price range.

Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Case

Apart from 11 hours of continuous playback time on the earbuds, the Charging Case allows another full charge. Most importantly, the charging case supports wireless charging. It comes with a USB Type-C charging port as well. A three-minute fee from the charging case will give one hour of playback, and a one hour of charging will provide three hours playback time. Samsung has outdone itself when it comes to power management, which adds a lot of value to these Galaxy earbuds plus.

Call Quality and Connectivity

Samsung has upgraded the call quality in these Galaxy Earbuds Plus compared to its previous model. It gives a more precise and natural sound, whereas the previous model had few issues when it comes calls. The triple mics in the earbuds play a vital role in amplifying the voice to make it better and make it more user friendly in loud places. Two outer mics and one inner mic work in sync. The external mics focus on your voice. The Samsung Galaxy earbuds plus comes with Bluetooth 5.0, which is the latest in the market. It gives uninterrupted connectivity throughout 1000 square feet, which is excellent for truly wireless earbuds. It grants a 10-meter wireless radius. When pairing with Samsung devices, it only takes a second or two to connect, which makes life easier for the user. If you wish to connect to a new device, you don’t need to unpair from the first device. You can simply search for the devices and click on the Galaxy Earbuds Plus to connect. These earbuds support up to 10 PC’s with Windows 10, which is helpful for users.

Final Say

The battery life in these truly wireless earbuds is what makes the Samsung Galaxy Earbuds Plus worth the money. It is undoubtedly the best when it comes to power management. The lightweight earbuds also make it convenient for the easy while excellent sensitivity in the controls makes life easy for the user.
However, the biggest let-off is its IP rating, which is lower compared to its other competitors in the market. But, if you are not a person who goes jogging in the rain, it should be fine. The audio quality is good even though the base could have been a bit more prominent. The price tag of 149$ is worthy enough for these earbuds.
