Pros

Active Noise Cancelation

The 1st Generation Sennheiser Momentum Truly Wireless Earbuds came with decent Passive noise isolation, but Sennheiser has taken the Sennheiser Momentum 2 to the next level by adding Active Noise Cancelation. It provides undisturbed and well-balanced audio experienced, which cannot be matched by passive noise isolation. With the addition of ANC, the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Truly Wireless Earbuds competes amongst the best in the market.

Fully Customizable Controls

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 comes with touch-capacitive controls on either bud. The sensitivity and smoothness are better than its predecessor. However, the more important value addition when it comes to controls in the 2nd generation is that all control could be swapped, changed, and added on using the app. Unlike the Apple Airpod Pro, which does not provide customizable controls, these Sennheiser’s provide full authority to the user, and it makes the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Truly Wireless Earbuds irresistible and worth the amount.

Extended Battery Life

The 1st generation of Sennheiser Truly Wireless Earbuds came with only 4 hours of guaranteed battery life. With the 2nd Gen, Sennheiser has extended the battery life up to 7 hours. They have achieved it even after adding ANC, which drains a lot of battery life. However, the battery life is less than what you get from the Samsung Galaxy buds plus, which has a whopping 11 hours of battery life, yet 7 hours from the buds and 21 hours from the charging case, makes these truly wireless earbuds perfect for everyday use.

The Bluetooth 5.1 Technology for Connectivity

Most of the truly wireless earbuds in the market use Bluetooth 5.0 in their earbuds. But, the Sennheiser Momentum 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.1, which is the latest technology out there in the market. This new technology brings in “Direction-Finding” which can pinpoint your location to the centimeter. The new technology provides faster-connecting speed with less power usage, which is a huge leap forward from the previous version. All these elements added together with clean, balanced audio and Active Noise Cancelation, these Sennheiser Momentum 2 Truly Wireless Earbuds are one of the top-rated earbuds in the market.

Cons

IPX4 Water Resistance Rating

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 comes with an average water resistance rating of IPX4. It only guarantees sweat resistance and resistance against splashes of water. The average rating could be a deal-breaker for a few users who would expect that higher rating to be on the safe side. Yet, these truly wireless earbuds would suffice an active lifestyle unless you prefer running in the rain. The rating is similar to what you get in Apple Airpod Pros and Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus. Apart from jogging in the rain or getting into the pool with these on, you are good to go.

Does not support multi pairing

The most significant let off with the Sennheiser Momentum 2 earbuds. It does not support multi pairing at the same time, which means you cannot switch from one device to another by selecting the earbuds from the new device. To connect to the latest equipment, you first have to disconnect from the first device and connect it with the new one. This feature is pretty much an essential feature which most truly wireless earbuds have in common, but unfortunately, Sennheiser has left it out, and it could prove costly to their sales. However, the Sennheiser Momentum 2 can be paired up to 8 devices, just not at the same time.

Suitable for Music, but podcasts and Audiobooks?

We mentioned earlier that Sennheiser has ramped up the audio quality compared to its first generation. There is no doubt in that when it comes to listening to music, but when you are listening to the person or a book, few users have complained about white noise in the background. It is very mild and barely noticeable, but if you listen carefully, you could hear it. For a hefty price tag as high as 299$, the user would think twice before making the purchase decision; however, as mentioned before, it is mild and barely noticeable.

It will cost you 299.95$

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 comes with great new features, and it has Active Noise Cancelation as well. One would be fine to pay 300 bucks for this, but you also have many budget options in the market with pretty similar features and quality. The Airpod Pro’s costs 50$ less with ANC in it. The Samsung Galaxy Buds plus costs 150$ less with excellent passive noise isolation. The Jabra Elite Active 75t is 100$ less with splendid passive noise isolation. All these options could make the consumer think twice before making the purchase decision.

No Wireless Charging

Once again, essential but Sennheiser have not added this feature to the charging case. The case comes with USB Type-C charging, which is the standard these days, but most of its competitors have the wireless charging ability, which is helpful for people who use phones which has the option of power-sharing. The charging case gives an added 21 hours of battery life, which is excellent, but the fact that it does not support wireless charging makes a negative impact on the consumer.

Sennheiser Momentum 2 - Design and Durability

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 comes with the hard plastic design. It does not have ear fins or ear wings to support the fit, but there are four standard sizes of ear tips to use according to your liking. From the outset, you cannot see a difference from the first generation, but it is smaller, and it has a better shape, which gives a better fit. You have two options of colors to choose from, which are white and gray or classic black. An IPX4 Water Resistance rating means, these truly wireless earbuds can withstand sweat and splashes of water. It is more than enough for an active lifestyle. Both earbuds have touch-capacitive controls that are customizable through the app. The smaller design does not protrude from the ear, which is suitable for the user.

Sennheiser Momentum 2 - Control and Digital Assistant

This Sennheiser’s come with the basic controls in the default setting. The best part is that all these controls are fully customizable through the app. The new feature in the original Sennheiser Momentum 2 Truly wireless earbuds, and it is not something you get from the Apple Airpod Pros.

These are the default controls, but all of these are customizable according to your preference. The Sennheiser Momentum 2 supports both Google Assistant and Siri on IOS devices. It is good news for many users, whereas Apple Airpod Pro only supports Siri.

App and Special Features

The new Sennheiser Momentum 2 launched with the latest control app. The control app provides many features that add value to the product. The biggest perk is the fact that it gives the ability to customize all controls. The app shows the battery level of either bud separately. It has built-in equalizer which could tweak the audio according to your liking, and you could also switch on Transparent hearing, which pumps in outside noise while on a call or listening to music. There options such smart pause, which enables the earbuds to identify when you take off the buds from the ear, and the music will automatically pause. There is also an option to Auto-Accept Call, which automatically answers calls when you take the right earbud from the charging case.

Audio Quality

Sennheiser has ramped up the audio quality of the new Momentum 2 compared to its predecessor. There good bass punch to it, which is touch better than what you experience with Airpod Pro’s. However, the mids are quite disappointing. The lack of emphasis on the mids affects sound color and the depth when you are listening to music.
Due to the lowered highs and upper mids, the soundstage is lenient.you could use the built-in equalizer to enhance the mids and highs, but it does not do justice to the audio. This could be a major let down to users who are concerned about the quality of sound. Due to the hefty price tag, the expectations are naturally high.

Noise Cancelation

The most significant leap forward in the new Sennheiser Momentum 2 is Active Noise Cancelation. It does an excellent job of draining out the airy noises like the air condition or a photocopy machine inside an office environment.
The design and the fit add on to the noise cancellation through passive noise isolation. It is fair to say these Sennheiser Momentum 2 are high up there when it comes to ANC.

Battery and Performance

The Sennheiser Momentum 2 truly wireless earbuds guarantee 7 hours of music playback, which is a massive upgrade from its predecessor. This is similar to what you get from Aipod Pro’s. The charging cases provide another 21 hours more, which is more than enough to get through the day. In practical use, these earbuds last about six and a half hours without Active Noice Cancelation. With ANC, it provides uninterrupted playback up to five and a half hours. When it comes to talking time, the battery performance is an enormous improvement compared to it it’s predecessor, and it makes these earbuds one of the best in the market.

Sennheiser Momentum 2 Charging Case

One thing that hasn’t changed much is the charging case. It is pretty much the same, which came the 1st generation. It comes with a USB type-c charging port, and it provides 21 hours worth of playback for the earbuds. However, the biggest downfall is that there is no wireless charging capability in the case. In comparison, many truly wireless earbuds in the market come with this option. This could work against Sennheiser, as it is common in the market. It is still a considerable upgrade from the previous model, which came with only 8 hours of playback time from the charging case.

Call Quality and Connectivity

The new Sennheiser Momentum 2 provides excellent call quality. It does an excellent job of isolating the voice from the outside noise to give clear audio to the recipient. Sennheiser has done an excellent job in the aspect, and it is right up there amongst the best in the market. The coverage is perfect inside a 1000 sq—meter radius, which is standard for truly wireless earbuds. For connectivity, the Sennheiser Momentum 2 truly wireless earbuds use Bluetooth 5.1, which is the latest technology in the market. It has all the new features, and it helps seamless pairing with any device. There is no lagging noticed by any user when watching videos on Netflix or YouTube. However, the only set back when it comes to pairing is that these Sennheiser Momentum 2 does not allow you to pair two devices at once. It is a primary feature that many truly wireless earbuds have, yet Sennheiser has opted to keep it out.

Final Say

All in all, there are few great features in these earbuds. A hefty price of 249$ could make the consumer think twice before making that purchase decision. Still, it is fair to say that Sennheiser has done justice to the amount you are paying. Few significant setbacks, which they could rectify, but these are subjective. We hope these points were hopeful, so let us know what you think and share your experience with our community.
