Lypertek PurePlay Z3 Earbuds Pros

Bluetooth 5.2

What is Bluetooth 5.2? it’s one of the latest versions used in the current market. There are few features in this technology that adds value to the truly wireless earbuds. With the ability to use Bluetooth Low Energy wireless earbuds are not only able to last longer but these buds can get even smaller and low in weight. It also Introduces a new high-quality, low-power audio codec called the Low Complexity Communications Coded which provides high quality even at lower data rates than the standard SBC codec used in Bluetooth Classic implementations. It Supports multiple, synchronized audio data streams which truly wireless earbuds to have independent synchronized audio streams directly to each earbud. These are a few out of many such advantages in Bluetooth 5.2, overall what you should know is that having Bluetooth 5.2 adds a lot of value to the product.

Water resistance rating of IPX7

This rating means these buds can be submerged underwater up to one meter for thirty minutes. It is an important feature for fitness fanatics who would ideally want a pair of buds that could withstand water and sweat. Having these buds mean that they can even wear the buds outside while it is raining. You can also wear these for a swim, as long as you don’t lose them underwater.

10 hours of battery in a single charge + 70 hours from the charging case

10 hours of battery is way above average, and that’s what you get if you choose to buy the Lypertek PurePlay Z3. These buds come with high power efficiency due to Bluetooth 5.2, which enabled the manufacturer to not compromise on the weight while increasing the battery power. 10 hours of playback means, these buds are only behind the Samsun Galaxy buds plus which boasts 11 hours of playback from a single charge. However, the Lypertek PurePlay Z3 surpasses most other brands when you add the extra 70 hours you get from the charging case. With that 7 full charging cycles, you can easily get through the week without having to use a charger for the case.

Ambient mode

The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 does not come with active noise cancelation. However, it does use a secure fit to isolate the noise to allow the user to enjoy uninterrupted playback. Most budget brands refrain from having an ambient mode, due to its added costs in manufacture. The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 has included the ambient mode where people can know what’s happening around them without having to pause music or taking off the buds. Now, let us look at the Cons.

Lypertek PurePlay Z3 Earbuds Cons

Basic design + Basic Audio performance

When you look at the most budget-friendly truly wireless earbuds in the market, the most common department where they lack quality is the Audio output and design. They pack all the features in the device but cut the budget on the outlook appearance and audio quality. It is the same with these Lypertek PurePlay Z3. We don’t mean to say the audio quality is horrible, but there is no significance in it to compete with the high-end brands. It is the same with the design, they have kept it simple which lacks the rich look consumers would like to have on a wearable. After all, truly wireless earbuds have now become a fashion.

Design and Durability

The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 comes in a hard plastic design with a matte finish. These four sizes of ear tips to choose from. Small, medium, and large silicone tips and a medium-size Flexit foam tip. Both buds have physical button controls to give commands. The buds are lightly weighted due to the advanced technology used in battery consumption which allows the manufacturer to use smaller batteries without hindering the playback time.
When it comes to durability, these buds are amongst the top truly wireless earbuds in the market. With a water resistance rating of IPX7, these buds are safe from rain, sweat, and even accidental drop in the water. Users can wear these in the rain, during their high-intensity workout, or even leisure swim in the morning or the evening. This is a clear upgrade from the previous model, the Lypertek SoundFree S20 which came with an IPX5 rating.

Control and Digital Assistant

The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 comes with responsive physical buttons on either of the buds. The controls are fully customizable from the mobile app which is available in both Apple Store and Google Play Store. The stock controls are as follows

Left Bud Buttons Functions

One Click

Three Clicks

These buds support both Google Assistant and Siri without any issue.

App and Special Features

The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 comes with a mobile application. It is available on both Android and IOS platforms. The app shows the average battery life of both buds together and you can use the app to locate your buds in case you misplaced them. There are usual firmware updates and other related information on the buds. You can also customize controls up to a certain extent using the app and activate/deactivate ambient mode from it. The in-built equalizer allows the user to modulate the music according to their liking and you can also use LDX Audio to enjoy a larger soundstage and good sound separation. This is another feature that is lacking in the Lypertek SoundFree S20 and some other brands like the Apple Airpod Pro.
The ambient sound mode is there to use while walking on the road or in an office environment so that the user can know what is going on around him. The passive noise isolation in these buds is quite good in drowning out exterior noises which would isolate the user from the real world.

Audio Quality

Similar to most other budgets-friendly truly wireless earbuds in the market, the Lypertek PurePlay Z3 also lacks firepower when it comes to audio performance. The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 comes with 6mm graphene drivers and it supports SBC, AAC, and aptX codecs. These buds stay way above other budget-friendly truly wireless earbuds because it offers natural and well-balanced audio. It provides a near-neutral sound that enables the user to hear songs and soundtracks as their creators intended, without any exaggerations. Usually, in budget products, the low end overpower the soundstage, but when you switch to LDX audio, the audio output becomes more refined for everyone to enjoy

Noise Cancelation

These buds do not come with active noise isolation. However, by using the correct sized ear tips, the user can enjoy perfect passive noise isolation and enjoy audio without any interruptions. You could also switch to the medium-sized Flexit foam ear tip which maximizes comfort without much reduction in noise isolation.

Battery and Performance

This is the best feature out of all in the Lypertek PurePlay Z3. These boasts 10 hours of playback time from a single charge. This is way above par compared to most brands. The Jabra Elite Active 75t, which is considered one of the best also comes with less battery power. The Apple Airpod Pro or the Sennheiser Momentum II also falls way behind these buds when it comes to power consumption. The only model which does better in this department is the Samsung Galaxy buds plus which has 11 hours of battery life. In practical testing, these buds survived a little over 9.5 hours with volume up to 65% which is still above most brands

Charging Case

The charging case is unique in design but one of the best cases when it comes to power. It provides 7 full charging cycles, a total of 70 hours of playback to the buds, which is more than enough to get through the week. Only the Soundcore Liberty stands above with an excess of 100 hours of playback time. The charging case is roughly 8cm x 3cm x 4cm, and It is perfectly pocketable. It comes with USB-C charging and also supports Qi-wireless charging if needed.

Call Quality & Connectivity

One of the drawbacks of these buds is the call quality. Your voice output is low on volume, but when surrounding noises like traffic or distant people chatter are reduced neatly, your voice would sound much better to the recipient. Video calls again, make your voice very soft and hard to follow which is quite disappointing given all the other good things in these buds. The Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0 comes with the latest Qualcomm QC3040 chipset, which allows for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity for a high-quality connection. It also supports apX and AAC codecs. When Pairing these buds for the first time, it is slightly different from most other truly wireless buds we’ve used. Making use of Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Plus tech, you first pair the right earpiece (over Bluetooth 5.0), before being prompted to pair the left earpiece separately. However, there was no lag when it comes to HD video streaming and the connection does not get any interruptions up to 50ft.

Final Say

These buds are better than the Lypertek SoundFree S20. My choice out of the two models would be the Lypertek PurePlay Z3, even if it costs a couple of extra bucks. The battery life is great for users who are always on the go. The durability is high enough for these buds to use during fitness sessions. Although the design is basic, you can easily walk anywhere with these buds without embarrassing yourself. Apart from the lack of call quality, these buds do much better compared to most other budget-friendly truly wireless earbuds in the market. This is what we think, do let us know what you think about these buds.
